Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, co-founder of Binance, has been appointed as Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC), according to a Monday report from TechJuice, a known platform for tech-related news, focusing on Pakistani startups, entrepreneurs, and the tech ecosystem.
The appointment was announced during a meeting with key government officials in Pakistan. The meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, included the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and Federal Secretaries for Law and IT.
CZ also held separate meetings with Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
“This is a landmark moment for Pakistan,” said Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Finance Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of PCC. “We are sending a clear message to the world: Pakistan is open for innovation. With CZ onboard, we are accelerating our vision to make Pakistan a regional powerhouse for Web3, digital finance, and blockchain-driven growth.”
“Pakistan is opening its doors to the future of finance,” said Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council. “And who better to guide us on this journey than CZ — a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and changed the way billions think about financial freedom.”
In his role as Strategic Advisor, CZ will provide guidance on regulation, infrastructure, education, and adoption, working with both the Pakistani government and the private sector to develop a compliant crypto ecosystem.
“Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60% of whom are under the age of 30. The potential here is limitless,” CZ said during the announcement.
The Pakistan Crypto Council, established under the Finance Division, is leading this digital transformation initiative.
The appointment comes after CZ signed last week a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kyrgyz Republic’s National Investment Agency (NIA) to boost blockchain growth in Kyrgyzstan.
This partnership aims to develop Kyrgyzstan’s cryptocurrency and blockchain ecosystem by focusing on regulatory consulting, infrastructure development, and education initiatives.
