Bitcoin has entered a critical week of U.S. economic announcements, with the Federal Reserve’s October 28 interest rate decision, inflation data, third-quarter GDP figures and major technology earnings arriving as BTC struggles to hold $80,000.

Summary

  • Bitcoin faces a crucial week as the Federal Reserve announces its interest rate decision on October 28.
  • September PCE inflation and third-quarter U.S. GDP data are scheduled for October 29.
  • Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Intel earnings could influence crypto market sentiment.
  • Bitcoin struggles to hold $80,000 after falling to approximately $79,100 over the weekend.

According to an October 25 market calendar shared by The Kobeissi Letter, the week beginning October 26 will feature several economic releases alongside earnings from Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Intel. Approximately 20% of S&P 500 companies are expected to report results.

Bitcoin enters the week following a decline from $85,000, having touched a five-week low near $79,100 over the weekend. Traders are watching whether the upcoming announcements will support a recovery or add pressure to an already fragile market.

Fed rate decision puts Bitcoin’s $80,000 level in focus

The Federal Reserve will conclude its two-day policy meeting on Wednesday, October 28, with investors awaiting the interest rate decision and accompanying press conference.

At its September meeting, the central bank raised the federal funds target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00%, citing persistent inflation despite solid economic activity and resilient domestic spending.

Market expectations now favor keeping rates unchanged. However, the next decision remains uncertain, particularly after September inflation reports raised concerns about the possibility of further tightening in December.

As crypto.news previously examined the September hike, higher borrowing costs can place pressure on speculative assets, especially when Treasury yields climb and investors reduce exposure to risk.

For Bitcoin, Wednesday’s announcement will involve more than whether policymakers raise rates or leave them unchanged. Traders will examine the Fed’s language on inflation, economic growth and the conditions that could justify further rate adjustments.

A cautious statement that leaves the prospect of another rate increase open could weigh on BTC.

Conversely, signals that policymakers are comfortable waiting for more economic evidence could improve sentiment.

PCE inflation and GDP data arrive after the Fed meeting

Thursday, October 29, presents another test for Bitcoin, with the Bureau of Economic Analysis scheduled to publish September personal income and outlays alongside the advance estimate of third-quarter GDP.

The personal income report contains the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure. Both reports are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

The timing is significant because the September PCE figures will arrive one day after the central bank announces its policy decision.

Previously, an October Bitcoin price outlook identified the separate releases as potential sources of market volatility, with inflation readings capable of changing expectations for the December meeting.

If PCE inflation remains elevated while GDP shows resilient economic growth, investors may conclude that policymakers have room to keep borrowing costs restrictive.

Weaker growth or cooling inflation could lead traders to reconsider the likely direction of rates, although neither outcome guarantees a Bitcoin rally.

Before those releases, the Census Bureau will publish September new home sales on Tuesday, October 27. The housing report provides another reading on consumer demand and activity in an interest-rate-sensitive part of the economy.

Big Tech earnings could affect crypto market sentiment

Corporate earnings will compete with economic data for investors’ attention throughout the second half of the week.

Microsoft and Alphabet are scheduled to release results on Wednesday, October 28, followed by Amazon and Intel on Thursday, October 29.

Investors are expected to examine cloud revenue, artificial intelligence spending, operating margins and management forecasts, following renewed concerns about technology valuations and the cost of developing AI infrastructure.

Microsoft’s results will arrive after Wednesday’s U.S. stock market close, while Alphabet has scheduled its earnings conference call for 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Amazon and Intel have confirmed Thursday earnings events, creating another concentrated period of corporate disclosures alongside the GDP and inflation reports.

Technology stocks have faced selling pressure during the past week, with concerns about AI spending contributing to weaker equity sentiment.

For crypto traders, the earnings announcements provide another source of potential market volatility when Bitcoin is already responding to changes in economic expectations.

Bitcoin price faces another test after weekend sell-off

Bitcoin’s latest decline followed its rejection near $85,000 during the previous week, with the price falling to approximately $79,100 on Saturday.

The $80,000 area has become an immediate reference point for traders, while 84,000–85,000 remains an overhead resistance zone following the recent unsuccessful recovery.

A sustained move below the weekend low would leave Bitcoin exposed to further selling, while reclaiming the previous resistance area would require renewed buying interest.

A separate Bitcoin market assessment published in October identified monetary policy, inflation readings and spot demand as factors affecting the asset’s recovery.

The Federal Reserve has scheduled the minutes of its October 27–28 meeting for November 18, followed by its final policy meeting of 2026 on December 8–9.
